Bulgaria took the lead in the 19th minute. Georgi Rusev picked up a yellow card in the 31st minute, and three minutes later, in the 34th, Atanas Iliev doubled the visitors' advantage, making it 2-0. Stefan Velkov was booked in the 41st minute, the second caution for Bulgaria.
Luxembourg went into the break trailing 0-2 and made three changes at half-time: Anthony Moris, Jayson Videira and Enzo dos Santos came on for Tiago Pereira Cardoso, Aiman Dardari and Mathias Olesen.
