Portugal 2-1 Norway: Cancelo and Ramos turn it around after Ajer's opener

Portugal beat Norway 2-1 in Nations League Group A, coming from behind thanks to Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Ramos, and finishing the match with ten men.

The match

Portugal went down a yellow card early, with Joao Cancelo booked in the 12th minute. Norway took the lead in the 36th minute: Kristoffer Ajer finished off an assist from Martin Odegaard to make it 0-1.

Portugal responded almost immediately. Two minutes later, in the 38th minute, Joao Cancelo got on the scoresheet himself, converting an assist from Nuno Mendes to level the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Portugal made a double change in the 63rd minute, bringing on Joao Cancelo for Diogo Dalot and Joao Palhinha for Ruben Neves. Norway reacted with their own changes: Erling Haaland replaced Jorgen Strand Larsen in the 67th minute, and Antonio Nusa came on for Oscar Bobb in the 74th minute.

Portugal found the winner in the 79th minute. Goncalo Ramos scored with an assist from Joao Felix, making it 2-1.

The closing stages were eventful for Portugal. In the 86th minute, Francisco Conceicao was booked and then sent off, reducing Portugal to ten men. At the same time, Vitinha came on for Bernardo Silva. Norway made a further substitution in the 87th minute, with Patrick Berg replacing Thelo Aasgaard. Bruno Fernandes was booked in the 88th minute. Portugal closed out the match with two more changes in added time: Joao Felix was replaced by Nuno Tavares, and Bruno Fernandes came off for Francisco Trincao, both in the 90th+2 minute.

Portugal held on to secure the 2-1 win despite playing the closing minutes with ten men.
