Scotland 1-2 Slovenia (31' Christie; 56' Matko, 71' Sturm)

Slovenia came from behind to beat Scotland 2-1 at Hampden Park in matchday 4 of UEFA Nations League League B. The hosts had taken the lead in the first half through Ryan Christie, but Slovenia turned the game around in the second half with goals from Aljosa Matko and Danijel Sturm.

The match

In the 30th minute Erik Janža picked up a yellow card, the first caution of the game. A minute later Scotland took the lead: in the 31st minute Ryan Christie scored to make it 1-0. Before half-time, in the 44th minute, John McGinn was also booked.

Slovenia raised their intensity after the break. In the 54th minute David Zec was booked, but the visitors equalised two minutes later: Aljosa Matko made it 1-1 in the 56th minute.

Scotland tried to respond with changes: in the 66th minute Oliver McBurnie came on for Kieron Bowie and Stephen Welsh replaced Aaron Hickey. In the 68th minute Luis Binks was booked. But in the 71st minute Slovenia completed the turnaround: Danijel Sturm, assisted by Matko, made it 2-1, a goal that would prove decisive.

Scotland made further changes in an attempt to respond: in the 72nd minute Ryan Christie was replaced by Josh Mcpake, and in the 73rd minute Ben Gannon-Doak came on for Findlay Curtis. Slovenia responded in the 79th minute by bringing on Zan Vipotnik for Žan Celar.

Late in the game, in the 85th minute, Mark Zabukovnik was booked. In the 87th minute Scotland made their final substitution, with John McGinn making way for Robbie Ure. Slovenia replaced Srđan Kuzmić with Aljosa Matko in the 89th minute. In the second minute of added time, Žan Celar received the match's final yellow card.
