Frosinone 2-0 Como: Calò and Kvernadze seal home win

Frosinone beat Como 2-0 at the Stadio Benito Stirpe in matchday 5 of Serie A. Giacomo Calò and Giorgi Kvernadze scored the goals, both assisted by Romano Schmid.

The match

Frosinone started strongly and took the lead in the 14th minute, with Giacomo Calò finishing off a Romano Schmid assist for 1-0. In the 34th minute, Como's Yan Couto picked up a yellow card.

Frosinone doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time. Giorgi Kvernadze was booked in the 45+1st minute, but two minutes later, in the 45+3rd minute, he scored the second goal, again set up by Schmid, making it 2-0.

Como made three changes at the start of the second half, in the 46th minute: Samuele Ricci, Moise Kean and Jesús Rodríguez came on for Da Cunha, Douvikas and Baturina. Frosinone responded with Giorgio Cittadini replacing Ilario Monterisi in the 54th minute. Two minutes later, Gabriele Bracaglia was booked.

Late in the match Como continued to freshen up their attack, bringing on Kaiki and Máximo Perrone in the 73rd minute. Frosinone managed the lead with substitutions involving Cichella and Zerbin in the 80th minute, and El Azzouzi and Amey in the 88th minute. In stoppage time, Antonio Raimondo was booked for Frosinone (90+2) and Assane Diao for Como (90+4). The score stayed 2-0 until the final whistle.

The numbers

Como dominated possession, finishing with 65% to Frosinone's 35%, and had more shots overall, 27 to 22, as well as more shots on target, 8 to 6. Como also edged the corner count, 8 to 7. Frosinone committed far more fouls, 21 against 8, but were more clinical in front of goal.

Table and next fixtures

The win takes Frosinone up to 10 points in 5th place, level with Como, who sit 8th also on 10 points. At the top of the table, Roma, Inter and Lazio lead with 13 points each, followed by Cagliari on 12.

Frosinone are next in action on Saturday, 10 October at 20:45 CEST away to Napoli. Como will play on Sunday, 11 October at 12:30 CEST at home against Roma.
