The match

Werder Bremen came from two goals down to beat FC Augsburg 3-2 at the Wohninvest Weserstadion, completing the turnaround deep into stoppage time.

Augsburg made the better start and took the lead in the 18th minute through Robin Fellhauer, who converted an assist from Fabian Rieder. Before that, in the 5th minute, Han-Noah Massengo had been booked. Werder's Arthur was also shown a yellow card on 27 minutes.

Augsburg doubled their lead early in the second half. In the 52nd and 53rd minutes the visitors made a triple substitution: Yannik Keitel, Alexis Claude-Maurice and Rodrigo Ribeiro came on for Massengo, Mert Kömür and Michael Gregoritsch. Five minutes later, on 58 minutes, Calvin Brackelmann scored from a Claude-Maurice assist to make it 0-2.

Werder responded quickly. Marco Grüll was booked in the 60th minute but pulled a goal back six minutes later, finishing off a Chuki assist to make it 1-2. Werder brought on Mitchell Weiser for Eren Dinkçi in the 68th minute.

The closing stages saw more cards, with Manuel Baum booked on 73 minutes and Hennes Behrens on 77. Both sides made further changes: Young-woo Seol replaced Marius Wolf (74'), Salim Musah came on for Ludovit Reis (78'), Oskar Wójcik replaced Amos Pieper (79'), and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw came on for Brackelmann (83').

Werder equalised in the 86th minute through Niclas Füllkrug, set up once again by Grüll. Then, in the third minute of stoppage time, Mitchell Weiser completed the comeback with the winning goal, assisted for a second time by Grüll, who finished the match with two assists and a goal in the second half. Bremen made one final change in the fourth minute of added time, with Mick Schmetgens replacing Arthur.
