The match

Nottingham Forest made the perfect start, going ahead in the 3rd minute through Dan Ndoye. Crystal Palace responded and levelled the score in the 41st minute when Daichi Kamada converted a pass from Jørgen Strand Larsen. Four minutes into first-half stoppage time, Jefferson Lerma put the hosts in front, sending the sides in at the break 2-1. Lerma had earlier been booked in the 16th minute.

Palace extended their lead early in the second half: Yéremy Pino made it 3-1 in the 59th minute, before being booked himself a minute later.

Nottingham Forest tried to respond through substitutions. Ibrahim Sangaré came on for Xaver Schlager in the 66th minute. In the 72nd minute, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Chris Wood replaced Dan Ndoye and Liam Delap respectively. Ola Aina was booked in the 73rd minute and was withdrawn in the 83rd for Arnaud Kalimuendo.

Crystal Palace managed the closing stages with their own changes: Jefferson Lerma was replaced by Honest Ahanor in the 72nd minute, while Eddie Nketiah and Ismaïla Sarr came on in the 83rd minute for Jørgen Strand Larsen and Yéremy Pino. Dwight McNeil replaced Daichi Kamada in the 90th minute. Deep into stoppage time, in the 90th+5, Nottingham Forest's Murillo was also booked.
