Albania beat San Marino at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana, in a Nations League Group C4 match that stayed open until deep into stoppage time.

The match

Albania took an early lead through Kristjan Asllani, who converted in the 11th minute to make it 1-0.

San Marino received two first-half bookings, with F. Fabbri cautioned in the 38th minute. Albania made a change at the break, bringing on Ernest Muci for Anis Mehmeti.

San Marino picked up another yellow card early in the second half, shown to Michele Cevoli in the 51st minute. Albania responded with a substitution of their own in the 56th minute, sending on Arber Hoxha for Myrto Uzuni.

San Marino then made three changes in quick succession: Fausto Marino Salicioni Ortiz replaced Samuel Pancotti, C. Meloni came on for Lorenzo Lazzari, and Michele Cevoli came off for Giacomo Benvenuti, all around the 58th and 59th minutes. A fourth San Marino change followed in the 64th minute, with Dante Rossi replacing Marco Pasolini.

San Marino equalised in the 66th minute through Lorenzo Lazzari, making it 1-1.

Albania reacted with a double substitution in the 71st minute, introducing Juljan Shehu for Mirlind Daku and Mario Mitaj for Ylber Ramadani.

San Marino picked up two further bookings late on, for S. Giocondi in the 76th minute and Nicholas Giacopetti in the 84th minute, before making their final substitution in the 86th minute, with Lorenzo Capicchioni replacing G. Bugli.

In the 90th minute a VAR check involved Albania's Ardian Ismajli, who was then booked in the second minute of stoppage time. Moments later, in the third minute of added time, Albania were awarded a penalty, which Kristjan Asllani converted to make it 2-1, the final score.
